Never allow your dog to eat food it may pick up on a walk, or may mysteriously appear in your garden.  There are some very sick ‘anti-dog’ individuals at large, and from time to time incidents of dog poisoning occur.

In 2009, there were separate cases of dogs being poisoned in different parts of the country - they were in:

•  Strines Moor, nr Sheffield, strychnine-laced sausages found
•  Belfairs Woods, Leigh on Sea, Essex
•  Blidworth Woods, Sherwood, Notts
•  Cofton Woods in the Birmingham area, where 5 dogs have died
•  Usselby Woods, near Walesby in Lincolnshire.  One dog died and 3
others ill, cause unknown as test results have not been published
