Once again we were blessed with good weather for our 10th anniversary show, held on June 20th 2009. A fleeting light shower did nothing to dampen anyone's enthusiasm, and fortunately it was a very comfortable temperature for the dogs.
Westies arrived in their hordes, the furthest competitor, Lili had travelled from the Isle of Mull, with her owners Alf and Edna Smith. Others had travelled from as far afield as Nottinghamshire, Shropshire, Manchester, Suffolk, and South Wales, such has become the popularity of SCRUFFS.
Our judge for the day, Mr. Glyn Eamus, Dog Warden for Swindon Borough Council was a very popular choice and did a sterling job. He chose three year old local dog Bella as the Best Rescue Westie from a huge entry. Every dog was a winner, going home with a luxury rosette and a waggy tail.
BBC Radio Presenter Sandy Martin opened the proceedings, and had invited Jacqui into the studio the previous day to talk about the show and Westie ReHoming with two of our dogs, Islay and Tuppence. A good time was had by all!!
Volunteers Sandra, Chris, Pauline and Helen worked hard on our stall all afternoon selling an excellent selection of doggy items.
Another wonderful, memorable day! May we extend our thanks and gratitude to our judge, volunteers and helpers, sponsors, and everyone who came along. The atmosphere at Scruffs is tremendous, and it makes it all worth while when we see the happy faces going home at the end of another successful show.
At the risk of repeating myself from last year, we are so fortunate to have such a happy, dedicated band of volunteers, all working together. Because of them, our charity continues to grow. Our thanks to them all, and to everyone who came along to support us.
